Besides the fading and clouding, the housings were broken, so it wasn&#8217;t worth just restoring the headlights. If you want to replace your headlights, here&#8217;s a guide.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4012\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_01.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_01\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Open the hood and disconnect and\/or remove the bulbs from the headlights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4013\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_02.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_02\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the plastic cover over the top of the headlights and grille by removing the 13 plastic pins.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4014\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_03.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_03\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unscrew the center and then pull the rest out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4015\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_04.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_04\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the grille by squeezing the four tabs at the corners from the rear. There may also be a screw holding it on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4016\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_05.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_05\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now that the grille it out, it&#8217;s time to remove the headlights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4017\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_06.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_06\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the inside of the core support, towards the outside of the truck, remove the two nuts on studs going into the headlight assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4018\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_07.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_07\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Towards the center of the truck, from the front, remove the two nuts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4019\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_08.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_08\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The two nuts are screwed onto this piece.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4020\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_09.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_09\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the bolt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4021\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_10.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_10\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The headlight assembly should now pull right out of the truck. There&#8217;s a huge difference between a brand new headlight and a nearly 3-decade-old one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4022\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018_07_19_11.jpg\" alt=\"2018_07_19_11\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My truck, and possibly yours, now has a new set of eyes!
