This is a semi-common problem. I don&#8217;t see it a lot, but I see it enough for it to not surprise me. There&#8217;s a lot of chemistry that goes into causing it, stuff involving the different metals used in battery posts and clamps, and what happens when electricity flow through them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-370\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/2016_01_11_01.jpg\" alt=\"2016_01_11_01\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is one of the worse cases I&#8217;ve seen of battery corrosion. It&#8217;s typically just a little bit around the base, but this was a whole pile bigger than the positive terminal cover. If I remember right the customer didn&#8217;t buy the battery service I recommended.
