I never saw it again and figured it had been removed when they put in a pipeline, but then last week my brother happened upon it and told me where to find it, so I went out last Sunday with a friend to go find it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2970\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_01.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_01.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s that lurking in the trees?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2971\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_02.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_02\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was about a half mile walk down the powerlines, and then into the woods to the side.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2972\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_03.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_03\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Judging by pictures online, I think this is a 1960 Chevrolet Brookwood station wagon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2973\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_04.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_04\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was in really bad shape from sitting for who knows how many decades in the woods. It was full of countless bullet holes from being used for target practice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2974\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_05.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_05\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I really wish I had a way to find out when it was left here and why.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2975\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_06.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_06\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The button on the door handle actually worked, but I couldn&#8217;t make it open.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2977\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_07.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_07\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The right front door was completely off, it looked like the hinges had been cut.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2978\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_08.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_08\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A large section of the roof skin had been cut out, exposing the braces beneath. I have no idea why it would&#8217;ve been cut out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2979\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_09.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_09\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The floor in the rear was completely gone, exposing the rear differential and suspension.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2980\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_10.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_10\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The screws for the taillight lenses were surprisingly rust-free, but unfortunately the lenses were broken long ago.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2981\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_11.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_11\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The engine compartment was stripped pretty bare, down to the inline six. The brake master cylinder was gone, as well as the radiator and any intake or exhaust. The front of the valve cover has a chunk out of it.<\/p>\n\n<p>Casting numbers on the valve cover.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2984\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_14.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_14\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the spark plug holes had a snake skin coming out of it. On the right side looks like the distributor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2985\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_15.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_15\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There were a few other things lying around, including this, which looks to me like a 50&#8217;s Ford truck grille.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3013\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_161.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_16.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There were also two matching red fenders. I have no idea what they&#8217;d be from, but they look like maybe a truck of some kind.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3014\" src=\"https:\/\/mechanicalmalarkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_15_171.jpg\" alt=\"2017_06_15_17\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the first abandoned car I&#8217;ve found, and it was really cool.
